1 kg minced lamb
2 onions, finely chopped
1 egg
½ bunch coriander leaves, chopped
2 tps crushed garlic
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp sweet paprika
½ tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground pepper

2 tbsp olive oil
625 ml water
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 finely chopped onions
½ tsp ground turmeric

4 potatoes, quartered


Combine the minced lamb, finely chopped onions, crushed garlic, tomato paste, chopped coriander leaves, egg, ground turmeric, sweet paprika and pepper in a large bowl. Shape the mixture into small balls using your hands then set aside.

Heat the olive oil in a heavy frying pan over a medium heat. Then add the finely chopped onions and cook for 4 minutes or until soft and translucent. Add the water, tomato paste, ground turmeric and salt and cover with a tight-fitting lid and bring to the boil.

Add the meatballs, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 1 hour. Remove the lid, add the potatoes and cook for 30 minutes or until the meatballs and potatoes are tender and the sauce is thick.
